SOCIETY19

SOCIETY19 is an online blog that gathers college students from universities all over the United States to write articles that are posted on their main site. Hector had the privilege of working at SOCIETY19 headquarters where he utilized several different media platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to market their blogs as well as increase website traffic. During this internship, he created eye-catching graphic designs and selected captivating photos that are both intriguing on their own yet also fit within that specific social media platform's aesthetic. Using websites like Hootsuite, Planoly, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word, he composed a detailed schedule to line up posts at least two weeks in advance. His background in creative writing transferred efficiently as he was tasked to embody the company’s online voice, shortening and expanding the number of characters depending on the platform.

Macaronikid

MacaroniKid is a publishing platform run by local parents who update the community on events and activities in their area through various social media platforms. During the height of the pandemic, Hector was hired as the social media intern for the Lakeland Florida branch where he oversaw their Pinterest account. Utilizing marketing strategies from his previous endeavors, Hector revamped the Pinterest page by reorganizing their boards, posting more relevant material for their audience, and adding well-researched hashtags to each post which expanded their outreach. Within three months Hector raised their monthly viewers from one hundred to forty thousand.

THe Dish

The Dish is Emerson College’s very own spunky pop culture show. For two seasons Hector held the position of Social Media Director where producers gave him complete creative freedom. As a screenwriter himself, he researched The Dish’s old scripts to grasp the feel of the show then transmit this tone through social media. This resulted in weekly TMZ-styled interviews where the cast was bombarded with questions as well as “Dish About It” posts in which audience members shared their thoughts on topics discussed on the show.
